Tomorrow will be a much better day for us
After almost five days in the hospital the doctor who looks after my kids broke some good news to us this afternoon. My kids are on their way to recovery from dengue infection. My son’s platelet count has increased from 90 to 120 this morning, a good sign that he is recovering well. My daughter’s platelet count, on the other hand, has yet to reach the normal level, but all other lab tests conducted yesterday and today showed positive signs that she has passed the critical stage of dengue fever. The doctor has given them a clean bill of health and permission to go home. But not to get excited about their going home, the doctor still warns the kids not to engage in stressful activities like playing. They need a few more days rest before they can go back to school. They have a lot of catching up to do with their school lessons so they need to save their energy.
My kids have surpassed another sickness and we are grateful that they did not reach that life-threatening stage of dengue fever. Although, their hospitalization has exhausted our little savings, I believe there are more reasons to be thankful for and I know things will be much better for us tomorrow.

Dengue Fever
This is our second day at the hospital.
I’m writing this update while taking a short rest from looking after my sick kids. My daughter is complaining of stomach ache right now. The doctor said stomach ache is one of the prominent symptoms of dengue fever wherein the virus has found its way to the patient’s liver. She couldn't even lie sideways as it would only make her pain worse…she was only given a tablet to relieve the discomfort. But whatever she takes doesn't make the pain go away. Vomitting is the only way to make her feel a little better. As for Khalil, he is beginning to show signs of improvement.
My kids were admitted Friday afternoon at Fairview General Hospital after showing signs of dengue fever. Dr. Annaliza Duran, our pediatrician for more than a decade, has ordered the kids' confinement after verifying the result of the second blood test (Complete Blood Count and Actual Platelet Count) conducted on their blood samples at FEU Hospital. The kids had on and off fever, complaining of headache and tummy ache. Yesterday morning (Feb. 19), one of the nurses disclosed that the kids' platelet count dropped from more than a hundred to just 71 to 37 for Khalil and Naomi, respectively. Their blood pressure is also below the normal level.
It’s Sunday morning, the result of another blood test will be out a little later. I hope something good will happen in the next few hours…I hope their platelet count particularly that of my daughter’s, has improved by then…
Friends, please include the recovery of my children in your prayers...

On Playing Online Games
Playing online has its advantage and disadvantage. A lot of people spend time on the Internet to play their favorite games. There are games in social networking sites and there are games where you need to put some money. The most important thing about playing games though is through these games, you are entertained and feel better about your situation. Online games are everywhere and if you are the type who is into casino playing, you can find a lot of websites that offer listings and playing guide. BonusRating casinos for example list gaming sites that offers free bonuses and no deposit. Here you can find gaming sites where you can play without the need to deposit money to the site's account. You are given some bonus to start with. You can even find no deposit casino bonus codes to use for your gaming pleasure. But of course you need to register first before you can claim your bonus and in some cases, you also need to download their playing software such as free slots. The best part about it is you got to keep your credits. The games available are much like the games available in real life casino. The fun part is, no need in dressing up, you can play it, for free, and in
the comfort of your pajamas.

For Confinement
My kids might be confined anytime today (depending on the result of another blood test at the FEU hospital) due to the possibility that they may have dengue fever.
Last night, I called up their pedia and read to her the initial result of their complete blood count and actual platelet count (cbc and apc). Their first blood test was taken after their initial check up at the East Avenue Medical Center yesterday afternoon. The range of their cbc and apc were still within the borderline but enough basis for the pediatrician to declare it’s dengue fever. However, she said the next 12 hours is crucial for the kids if their platelet will improve. Only oresol intake and colorless beverages will keep them from suffering dehydration. Dehydration is usually caused by high grade fever and vomiting. If their condition improves this morning there is no need for confinement.
While I was about to post this, I received a call from hubby that their cbc and apc went down from 158 last night to just 137 for Khalil and 106 for Naomi. Am now waiting for the doctor’s instruction where my kids will be taken. There are two options, FEU and Fairview Gen. I will keep you posted. In the meantime, I’m requesting you all, to please pray from my children…thank you…

Why do I want to win? I want to win any of the cash prizes because I’m saving up for my children’s tuition for next school year. Maybe some of you are aware that my husband is no longer receiving his regular salary from his job. In fact, he only got 50 percent of the government mandated 13th month pay. In short, we are depending on salary trickles since late last year. If not for my blog earnings (although not that big) we wouldn't be able to pay some of our monthly bills. The cash prize will be a big help for me and my family so please wish me luck...
Fancy Driving A Car
I don’t own a car yet, but I fancy driving one someday. So while I’m fairly dreaming about having my own wheels, I content myself with reading magazines or browse websites with lots of images of cars, big and small ones. I learn practical tips here and there about the best or expensive car such as Honda Civic while browsing the net. Even if I read about cars, I couldn’t tell between the technical specs of one car from another car. I simply compare their features and decide which car is better based on what appears on the pictures. So don’t expect someone like me to know about head gasket.
There are always friendly people from car shops in the city like those working in Los Angeles auto repair shops to entertain all my car queries if it happens that I already own a car. Ironically, I have no intention of buying a car in the next five years, not until the kids graduated from college. At least we don’t have to worry about paying expensive car repairs by then.

Mommy Moments: Love Song
This is a repost. When Naomi was about three days old, I started singing this song to her ... This song became my personal favorite lullaby. Naomi and Kyle would easily fall asleep at night whenever they hear this song. I still hum this song once in a while and reminisce about their younger years...
....We also have our share of Old Mcdonald song, Humpty Dumpty and other nursery rhymes during playtime. Oh I love the days when they are so dependent on mommy...its music to my ears whenever they request me to stay beside them until they fall asleep...
SA UGOY NG DUYAN
Music by Lucio San Pedro
Lyrics by Levi Celerio
Puso kong may dusa

Planning Ahead
A few days before my mother in law passed away, my husband was already inquiring if his memorial plan which he finished paying when he was still single includes a burial insurance for seniors. Good thing about hubby's memorial plan is that he was able to transfer it and be used for his mom's funeral. This has helped the family saved a big amount for the funeral expenses.
My 76-year-old mother in law succumbed to complications of diabetes and kidney disease. Her diabetes and kidney problem could have been managed by the right amount of medication as soon as she was diagnosed with the ailment. However, she doesn’t have a medical insurance to cover all her medical expenses. Even when my mother in law is already ill, no one in the family ever thought they would need Burial Insurance quotes.
With my mother-in-law’s death and the financial burden experienced by the family during her frequent hospitalizations, I realized the need for a more reliable health insurance for the whole family. And for those who look on the practical side of burial assistance, burial insurance is a gift perfect for the elderly and their family. Not to sound morbid but it is planning ahead especially for families who depend on minimum wage.
