Song from a Mom's heart

9 friendly remarks
When Naomi was about three days old, I started singing this song to her (kahit medyo lihis sa chords, oks lang) ... This song became my personal favorite lullaby. Naomi and Kyle would easily fall asleep at night whenever they hear this song. I still hum this song once in a while and reminisce about their younger years.

SA UGOY NG DUYAN

Music by Lucio San Pedro
Lyrics by Levi Celerio

Puso kong may dusa

....We also have our share of Old Mcdonald song, Humpty Dumpty and other nursery rhymes during playtime. Oh I love the days when they are so dependent on mommy...its music to my ears whenever they request me to stay beside them until they fall asleep...

Read more about other moms sharing the songs they sing to their kids...
Happy Weekend, everyone!

Detox foot bath

0 friendly remarks
I've been sitting in front of the computer for most of the day. Do you think I feel rested? I’m not! In fact, the long hours of sitting caused my feet and legs to swell (edema). I have water retention (not because I have kidney problem) due to physical inactivity.

If I can’t have a full body exercise, at least I should take care of my feet while sitting down. Have you heard about the treatment called bioenergiser dtox?

BioEnergiser Dtox (patented)

It's actually a foot bath or foot spa that energizes you both physically and mentally. The BioEnergiser dtox foot bath works by extracting toxins that build up in your body. The toxins are released in each of your feet's 2,000 pores. A 30-minute treatment will give you a renewed and rebalanced feeling.

The portable machine comes with sea salt, disposable footbath liners, lighted-display Timer/Control Unit, and 12V power supply.

The warm saltwater soothes the feet and reacts with the included Energy Cartridge. Aside from rebalancing the body’s Bio Energy, the treatment also ensures rehydration; renew energy levels, both physical and mental; it also provides significant results in the treatment of the following diseases: Psoriasis, Eczema, Leg oedema, Lymph oedema, hyper hydrosis, Lymphatic gland, and Lymphatic system.

You can check out the site through the link provided and avail this amazing foot spa. It only costs $99.99 when you order online.

If you are looking for the best online casino games for usa players, check lonelyheartscasino.com. This site is a ratings guide to the best online casinos, poker rooms and gaming sites on the web. You can find out more about casino, how to play it and win real money. You can choose from several types of online casinos that you wish to download and play.

If you are interested to learn online casino, be sure that you are signing up in a reputable gaming site and not to be fooled by scammers. Take time to read guides and reviews about the site and the kind of games they offer. Just enjoy the game and try not to get hooked for once you get the hang of it and get addicted, I'm sure you’ll never stop playing. Casinos are generally played for entertainment purposes; but many got hooked to the point of losing all their hard-earned money and properties. It’s sad to know some people who went bankrupt because of casino.

There are three general categories of casino games such as table games, electronic gaming machines, and random number ticket games such as Keno and simulated racing. Which of these categories have you played? I think one of the most entertaining casino games based on players' feedback is the slot machine. How about you, do you know how to play casino games?

Exercise for the hands

4 friendly remarks
Here's one for blogging addict enthusiast like me. Give your hands a break will yah? :D

People with hand-intensive jobs should do the following ten-minute exercise warm up before starting for work, to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeon has developed these easy steps for you.

 1. Extend and stretch both wrist and fingers acutely as if they are in a hand-stand position. (Hold for a count of five)
 2. Straighten both wrists and relax fingers.
 3. Make a tight fist with both hands.
 4. Then bend both wrists down while keeping the fist. (Hold for a count of five.)

5. Straighten both wrists and relax fingers, for a count of five.
6. Repeat exercise for 10 times, then hang arms loosely at sides and shake them for a couple of seconds. Total exercise time should be about five to 10 minutes. Then go safely back to work.

Alkaline diet to a healthy lifestyle

1 friendly remarks
This is a repost from Lyn's blog (her maiden post). Lyn is my kumare and former office mate from PJI. She shared this article to me when she learned about my recent health problem

Most people believe that weight loss is all about calories count. Not the alkaline diet. According to this revolutionary method, the secret to permanent weight loss and being healthy comes down to acid and a pH balance in the body fluid.

Microbiologist and proponent of alkaline diet Dr. Robert Young said the fluids in our body should be balanced. The idea of alkaline diet is that the alkalinity in our body fluid should maintain pH level of between 7.35 to 7.45. Anything lower than 7 – being the neutral level – is acidic. He blamed the excess acid, not fats, to overweight and obesity.

Battle of the diets

Most diet programs’ target is to eliminate fats. Some diet methods blame the carbohydrates for building excessive fats in our bodies. Experts, who promote high protein-low carbohydrates diet, explained proteins served as fuel to burn fats in our body. This theory leads to promotion of higher intake of protein and tapering carbohydrates.
On the other hand, some diet programs are promoting higher intake of carbohydrates and minimal consumption or totally abstaining from protein.
Whatever which way, both are promoting acid in our body.
In alkaline diet, it recognizes the importance of protein and carbohydrates it gives to our body. It also refuted the common notion that fats are the enemies why people are uncontrollably gaining weight.
Dr. Young explained that it is the acid that makes people fat.
He said if acid is not eliminated through perspiration, urination or respiration, it will pack to your thigh, hips, buttocks and waistline in the form of fat.
Acid, a waste product from energy production, will become fat. Fats develop and act as protective mechanism to shield our tissues from excess acidity.
Eating alkaline-producing foods eliminates excess acids in our body. Low level of acids means low development of fats.

Alkaline vs. Acid

Alkaline plays an important role in our body. Its function is to neutralize excess acid by removing them from our system. If we could not maintain pH levels with low alkaline, the essential nutrients, such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, and sodium, will be used up because it will act as neutralizing agent of the excess acid.

When minerals and nutrients are depleted and could no longer neutralize acid, high level of acid will occur and penetrate our tissues. This will result to the development of fatal diseases.
Stance on alkaline diet
Although the medical society has no official stance yet regarding the alkaline diet, most doctors believed that maintaining pH levels of alkaline is essential to good health. They observed that high level of acid, or known as acidosis, is commonly present in most deadly and serious illnesses – such as cancer, heart disease, obesity, weight problems, allergies, fatigue and premature aging as well as problems with our nervous system, cardiovascular system and muscles.
Furthermore, eating alkaline-producing foods promotes healthy tissues as it can hold as much as 20 times of oxygen in the body. Cancer cells are prevented from forming because they do not survive in oxygen.

Alkaline and acid-producing food

The food we eat leaves an ash residue in our body – either alkaline or acid ash.
Alkaline-producing foods are low sugar foods, fresh vegetables, citrus fruits, fish, grains, nuts, water with lemon or lime.
On the other hand, foods that leave acid ash are beef, pork, chicken, sweets, alcohol, dairy products, eggs and processed foods.
In alkaline diet, it does not encourage refraining or abstaining from acid- producing foods. Young recommended that people should consume 70 to 80 percent of alkalinized food and 20 to 30 percent of acidic food.
The measurement of consumption of alkalinize food is not as complicated as other diet programs’ calories counting. By simply looking at the plate, you will know how many percent of alkaline and how many percent of acid you are consuming.

Clean bill of health

9 friendly remarks
I was finally given a clean bill of health by my doctor, thanks Dr. D. He said all of the tests conducted on my blood sample were top normal. So my worries of having diabetes or kidney problem were gone. But still curious, Dr. D said I should get another urinalysis just to make sure the trace of blood on my urine sample was just part of what was supposed to be my monthly period. Although I did inform the lab personnel that it's my "first day" just so they will not mistook the discoloration (pardon the graphic description) to something else.

He said I should continue my vitamins and prescribed another medicine to lessen the discomfort and pain on my legs brought by what appears to be swelling vein. It's not really swelling; I just forgot the term he told me. He said a pair of stocking should be worn to allow the circulation of blood from my legs to the heart.

I asked Dr. D what could be the reason for the numbness and pain on my abdominal and back area, and recently the swelling of my feet. He said it could be that I gain weight and the "heaviness" is taking its toll on my abdomen, back and feet, thus the swelling.

You know what, I knew all along that the long hours of sitting in front of the computer will do more harm than good to me. I remember hubby once told me to give it a break, lessen the time spent in front of the computer, and take a walk (which means exercise). I should learn my lesson now (keeping my fingers crossed). I should be thankful that nothing is wrong with me (based on the blood test) even if I don't look healthy, but heavy.

Before my birthday next month, I will have a Pap smear and mammography. The idea of mammography test came from my cousin, who is unfortunately operated on to remove her right breast due to cancer. I'll write a different post about it. Sigh.

Cancer of the cervix (cervical cancer) is the second most common cause of cancer-related disease and death among women worldwide. The best way to detect cervical cancer is by having regular Papanicolaou tests, or Pap smears. (Pap is a shortened version of the name of the doctor who developed the screening test.)
A Pap smear is a microscopic examination of cells taken from the cervix.

A Pap smear can detect certain viral infections (such as human papillomavirus [HPV]) and other cancer-causing conditions. Early treatment of these conditions can stop cervical cancer before it fully develops. A woman may have cervical cancer and not know it because she may not have any symptoms.

Mammography is the process of using low-dose amplitude-X-rays to examine the human breast and is used as a diagnostic as well as a screening tool. The goal of mammography is the early detection of breast cancer, typically through detection of characteristic masses and/or microcalcifications. Mammography is believed to reduce mortality from breast cancer. No other imaging technique has been shown to reduce risk, but breast self-examination (BSE) and physician examination are considered essential parts of regular breast care.

Songs from the 80's

8 friendly remarks
I’m on MP3 Search mode today. My daughter requested me to download Madonna’s songs to her mp3 player.

I asked my daughter why she likes Madonna. She said not Madonna as she is, but her songs that she loves to listen and sing (sometimes). Last night, I heard her singing "Open Your Heart” in the bedroom. I think its one of Madonna’s hits in 1986. I admit I'm a Madonna fan then. I like almost all of her songs. I grew up listening to her and her contemporaries' music. Remember "True Blue”? Oh, I love that song. I think "Open Your Heart” was part of that album. In essence, the song depicts young love, innocent feelings of boy meets girl romance. (I hope my daughter is not taking the lyrics seriously).

By the way, is my daughter dumping MJ for Madonna? Not a chance. She still loves MJ's music. Her liking for 80's music is just admirable for her age.

Now back to my mp3 song search, good thing about free search engine like the one I’m using now is that almost all of the songs I'm looking for are there. Would you believe even Tagalog songs are available in their site? I’ll search for more to see if they have my favourite “Somebody” by Depeche Mode. :)

Web hosting geek

0 friendly remarks
That’s definitely not me ha ha. I admit I don't pay much attention on anything technical like web hosting, dedicated servers and what have you in the past. The heck I care. I’d rather ask hubby (not a geek or come close to being a techie but let say an enthusiast) who painstakingly explains technical stuff to me. It's easier for me to understand technical terms when he explains it to me a la school teacher with matching diagram sans classroom and blackboard. This time, I ask him what ecommerce web hosting is all about.

I just hope I get him right so I can share it with you (only those who are not familiar with the term). Hubby said since I’m quite err familiar with web hosting now (post something about it twice), I can explain what e-commerce web hosting is. He said e-commerce hosting like web hosting is a business that offers other companies a space on the Internet where they can promote and sell their products or services. The ecommerce host provides the web design including catalogues and templates where prospective clients can buy and process their orders. The e-commerce host also provide business owners software to make business or merchant accounts to process credit card transactions like the ones they used at ebay, for example.

So if you are planning to put up your own business and spread the word about it, you will need to hire an ecommerce hosting company to handle all the technical matters to maintain your first commercial business site. (Do I sound like an expert now? LOL)

On losing weight and liposuction

2 friendly remarks
I love my paediatrician's new look. Remember my post about her and how she trims down to her present whistle-bait figure. She said she lose 5 kilograms in barely three months. Her secret, actually not a secret but a self-discipline in what she eats and physical exercise including regular jogging every morning. That's how she shed off the love handles she's been complaining about for a long time. We were in the middle of discussion when she mentioned about her contemporary who is a california plastic surgeon. She said her lady friend is a liposuction specialist. While she knows that cosmetic surgery is the fastest way to eliminate stubborn fats in the abdomen area, she still adheres to the natural way of losing weight. She said she can undergo ethnic plastic surgery if she wants, but still have qualms to go under the knife.

Ethnic plastic surgery, by the way, is the customized treatment options and specialized recovery programs being offered to Hispanics or Latinos, Asians, African Americans and Native Americans who wish to have plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery. This means that doctors doing the procedure will see to it that any scarring can be improved even in people with olive-toned or darker skin. And they carry out the surgery to make the new appearance look natural or appropriate to the person’s ethnic features. The keyword is to improve, she said, and not to change the look.

I politely ask her if surgery has ever crossed her mind. Well, she said, yes. There were times she was really thinking about it. In fact, she said she already inquired about the price list. She admits seeing the possibility of undergoing beverly hills liposculpture. However, she said she can't splurge that amount to achieve a desirable body. She said she’s confident now and more than ever so there's no need to have a surgery for now.

European getaway

0 friendly remarks
I haven’t experienced travelling using the rail transportation. If I have the chance I would like to visit Bicol and other tourist spots via this land transport system. They say it’s cheaper to travel through train than plane so why not give it a try if an opportunity comes. Now, if you want to take a vacation say in Europe and you want to travel cheap, Euro trains is highly recommended.

In fact, a self-guided rail tour package is being offered to tourists just so they experience a relaxing and safe travel option across Europe. Tourists will be able to view the different regions of Europe and be educated on the unique culture and heritage of each country. They will surely enjoy great scenery and cities each country has to offer.

Euro train tickets can be availed at cheaper price through Rail Travel Account Deals so travelling need not be expensive. And if you still worry getting Trains to Europe, you should be able to check on the train schedules online to get the best seat and exact time to reach Paris or trains to Brussels, Amsterdam and even Lille. Euro trains ensure that your travel to Europe will be fast, affordable and fun. There are train services if you want to go direct Gare du Nord International Railway station or if you wish discover Holland and The Netherlands.

Bed bugs

0 friendly remarks
I’m such a neat freak when it comes to my children’s toys and clothes. I always remind the nanny (we used to have one when I was still working) to wash the clothes well and constantly clean the children's favorite toys, the ones they often carry with them the whole day. I only wanted to ensure the safety of my kids so no one can blame me for being like that. You see my children were sickly when they were very babies. One gets sick after the other. I feel like being tormented when both of them are unwell. The most common ailments that often afflict my kids are bronchitis and asthma. Both are associated to some form of allergy. Sometimes I blame it on the pesky bedbugs hiding beneath the sheets. They often left visible bite marks on the skin of my young kids then. Although our pediatrician didn't out rightly confirms the association of bed mites to their bronchial and asthma spells she still recommended using a bed bug mattress protector just to be on the safer side. We didn’t buy one because it will entail additional expenses, what we did and still doing until now is to regularly change bed covers and pillow cases to keep the bed bugs at bay.

Mommy Moments - Message of Love

9 friendly remarks
I have yet to receive a Valentine card or note from my kids. I wish to share these sweet thoughts which I posted in one of our Mommy Moment's themes. They gave me these letters on different occasions. I'm re-posting these letters here.

 From my daughter

 From my son

Sweet note  from my one and only

I've been telling my kids how much I love them although there were times I was too hard on them especially when they failed to do their assignments or projects on time or when they refused to help mommy when I requested for assistance around the house.

I love you kids with all my heart and soul. Nothing comes close to the happiness and warmth that I feel when you are around.

For hubby, I've already said this in my other blog, but I will repeat it over and over like a music to your ear...that I love you and life would be different without you. ♥♥♥

This is my entry for Mommy Moments.  mommy moments

Novice casino player

0 friendly remarks
Many of my friends online are talking about casino online in their blogs. Some wanting to learn the trade for fun or while away the time, some want to learn new tricks to share with their relatives and friends. I haven't thought of joining the bandwagon of casino players just yet, but if ever you are really interested to find out more about casino, how to play it and win real money, you can check out this gaming site and choose from several types of online casino that you wish to download and play.

I don't play any online games these days as it they eat up my limited time to blog. If I have the convenience to play, I play solitaire or Pacman online lol. Seriously now, one piece of advice for those who are interested to try to learn online casino, be sure that you are signing up in a reputable gaming site and not to be fooled by scammers. Take time to read guides and reviews about the site and the kind of games they offer. Just enjoy the game and try not to get hooked for once you get the hang of it and get addicted, I'm sure you’ll never stop playing. See, I’m a Pacman addict now, hehe.

Our trek to the Shrine of the Divine Mercy

6 friendly remarks
In my previous post, I've mentioned about our field trip. It took me several days to post the pictures because of my recent health problem. I'm slowly recovering and hopefully the doctor will finally give me a clean bill of health.

Here are the photos from our visit to the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Marilao, Bulacan.
Many of you might have visited the Shrine. It’s our first time and we enjoyed looking around and take some photographs. The Shrine is home to replicas of saints and pious people in the Catholic Religion. You can feel the sanctity of the place. Some parents or chaperon of kids got a few minutes to kneel and pray to the saints.

Inside the cave...

Our next stop...the tour to Ocean Adventure inside the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority...I couldn't wait to share more photos next time.  :D
